The Stratford boys tennis team dropped one match but was otherwise unchallenged by Fort Dorchester in a non-region match on Monday. The Knights improved to 1-0 on the season with the 6-1 victory. Griffin Wong Jeffrey Wong, Parker Hoffman and Garrett Sides all had singles victories for Stratford. The tandems of Dylan Sides and Griffin Wong and Anthony Yeung and Jordan Smith recorded doubles victories. Stratford is set to travel to Berkeley on Wednesday, March 12 and host James Island Tuesday, March 18. They travel to Fort Dorchester for a rematch on Wednesday, March 19. BASEBALL: Christian Sillanpa and Chris Singleton each had two hits to help power Goose Creek to an 8-4 win over Academic Magnet on Monday at Collins Park in North Charleston. Singleton added three RBIs and Sillanpa scored three runs for the Gators, who struck for seven runs over the first two innings. Michael Cedotal was credited with the pitching victory after entering in the second inning. He gave up four runs on four hits and fanned two while walking three. Bryce Jonason tossed the final three innings, striking out five batters and allowing just two hits to earn the save. Goose Creek travels to Hanahan on Wednesday, March 12 and hosts the Hawks on Friday, March 14 before beginning Region 7-AAAA play against Stratford with a three-game series (March 17, 19, 21). Stratford dropped a 5-4 game against Beaufort on Monday, losing in eight innings. The Knights (3-1) had just four hits and made four errors. Beaufort (3-0) hit a pair of home runs. On the season for the Knights, catcher Jordan Lacavera and outfielder Taylor Morrison are batting .385. Stratford hosts Summerville on Thursday, March 13. SOCCER: The Stratford soccer teams split a pair of games with Porter-Gaud on Monday. The girls won 2-1 and the boys lost in penalty kicks. Heather Blaszak and Taylor Atwood scored goals for the Stratford girls. For the Stratford boys, Felix Martinez and Reid Short scored goals before the game was decided on PKs. The other Stratford goal was an own goal. The Knights travel to Ashley Ridge on Thursday, March 13 and Hanahan on Monday, March 17. The Lady Knights were set to meet Ashley Ridge on Tuesday before traveling to Colleton County on Tuesday, March 18 and hosting Summerville on March 21. SOFTBALL: Berkeley defeated Stratford 7-6 on Monday, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win it. The Lady Knights (0-1) had 10 hits and committed three errors. The Goose Creek Lady Gators defeated Timberland 9-4 on Monday. Kali Berrigan and Bailey Craven each had two hits and a pair of RBIs for Goose Creek. Kaitlyn Fowler made her first start inside the circle and picked up the victory, striking out six over six innings. TUESDAY, MARCH 11 BASEBALL: The Hanahan Hawks knocked off Pinewood Prep 13-4 on Tuesday at HHS behind Dalton Pate's three hits. Seth Lancaster, Brandon Caddell and Walt Fagan added two hits apiece. The Hawks scored all of their runs in the final two innings to come back from a 4-0 deficit. Malcolm Van Buren was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. SOFTBALL: Summerville knocked off Stratford 5-3 in softball on Tuesday. The Lady Knights had eight hits but committed three errors. Stratford hosts Hanahan on Thursday.
