Black History Month

Photo Provided  Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler signs a proclamation declaring February “Black History Month” in the city. Mayor Heitzler met with representatives of the Goose Creek NAACP to sign the proclamation, which recognizes the contributions of African Americans in our country’s history. This year’s Black History Month theme is Civil Rights in America, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The Goose Creek NAACP Branch will host its annual program on Monday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at Berkeley Electric Co-Op, 2 Springhall Drive.  This free event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
