Palmetto Christian completed the season sweep of Thomas Sumter Friday with a 56-44 win at home on senior night.
Four Eagles scored in double figures, while the Palmetto Christian defense held Thomas Sumter without any one player. Mitch Hogan scored 14 points with nine rebounds, Joe Siegwald added 12 points and 10 boards, J.T. Waters 11 points and 4 assists, and Will Tuchfarber 10 points, six rebounds.
Carlton Washington scored nine to lead Thomas Sumter, Tanner Brunson and Austin Hudson both added eight.
Palmetto Christian (12-10, 9-0) built an early 11-point lead through the first quarter, limiting Thomas Sumter to just six points. The two traded baskets throughout the game but the Eagles were able to keep pace and close out their Region II slate with an unblemished 9-0 record.
Lady Eagles falter late
The Palmetto Christian Lady Eagles surrendered a 12-point advantage in the fourth quarter Friday in a 48-46 loss to Thomas Sumter.
Corey Caulder scored a game-high 26 points with eight rebounds, while Annie Pascutti added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Palmetto Christian (11-12, 6-3).
The Lady Eagles managed just four points in the fourth quarter, while allowing Thomas Sumter to climb back with an 18-point effort. Taylor Knudson led Thomas Sumter with 25 points.
Palmetto Christian finishes third in Region II, two games ahead of Calhoun Academy.
