Tires slashed on 26 cars
About $15,000 worth of tire damage was done during a string of malicious injury to personal property cases in the early hours of Nov. 22. The incidents occurred in the Cherry Hill subdivision and at the Woodfield St. James apartments, according to police reports.
A total of 20 different victims were listed in the reports.
An officer responded to a Cherry Hill Avenue residence shortly before 1 a.m. when the first victim reported both his rear tires were deflated. The tires seemed to be punctured several times with a pointed instrument. The victim said he last saw the tires intact at 9 p.m.
The Mercedes Benz 2S SL3 had two tires damaged. Throughout Cherry Hill, a Dodge Caravan had one tire damaged, a Dodge Durango had one tire damaged, a Toyota Camry had three tires damaged, a Saturn Vue had one tire damaged, a Volkswagen Jetta had four tires damaged and a Chevy Traverse had one tire damaged.
The cars at Woodfield St. James apartments seemed to have their tires punctured by an object like an ice pick or a small screwdriver, according to the report.
A total of 19 vehicles and 50 tires were damaged at the complex.
One victim said her gas cap was also missing from her vehicle, but she is unsure if any gas was missing.
She said on Nov. 21 she saw four high school age males, two white, two black, wearing black puffy jackets, hanging out in the area. About 15 minutes later she saw them take off running.
Based on speaking to witnesses, the tires appear to have been slashed between 2:30 a.m. and 7 a.m., according to the report.
