Goose Creek’s Light Display Thursday, will feature fireworks

  • Thursday, December 5, 2013

The City of Goose Creek’s second annual Lakeside Light Display will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5) behind the Municipal Center on North Goose Creek Blvd. (Hwy. 52).

This year’s event – presented by Goose Creek Heating and Air – will feature a fireworks display.

Following the fireworks will be the lighting of the lakeside light displays. There will be several new displays this year including a Mrs. Claus and a Gingerbread Boy and Girl. Santa promises to be there to hear the wish lists from children, so be sure to bring a camera for photos. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available to children after they visit Santa.

Everyone is encouraged to bring canned goods or non-perishable food items to donate to Helping Hands of Goose Creek.

Performances by the Marrington School of the Arts and the Westview Middle School Jazz Band will be held following the lighting of the displays.

Free Friday evening hayrides are scheduled for Dec. 13 and 20, from 6-8 p.m. Families can enjoy the lights from a hayride around the lake. The Dec. 13 hayride will feature cookie decorating sponsored by the Goose Creek Walmart. The Dec. 20 hayride will offer a marshmallow roast. All activities and the hayride are free.

Sponsors for the event are Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union, the Goose Creek Recreation Booster Club, Carnes Crossroads, Drew Sineath and Associates, Berkeley Electric Cooperative, NBSC Bank and Lowcountry Roofing and Exteriors.
