Sky’s the limit for local porch swing company

Vintage Porch Swings turns a hobby into a success story, with all design and manufacturing in the Lowcountry. Five years after building a swinging porch bed for his pregnant wife, Brent McHenry, a PhD developing medicines to defeat cancer and co-owner of Vintage Porch Swings, says “the porch bed swing is both a hot trend and a classic tradition, everybody wants one!” Vintage Porch Swings has performed every year ranging from 185 percent to 390 percent growth in total sales compared to its previous year.

Co-owner Vann Cochran describes Vintage Porch Swings as “a place to kick back, relax, read a good book and disconnect from the world.” He adds that making the beds by hand in South Carolina adds an authentic southern charm, attention to detail and a Made In America quality which is unmatched overseas.

But aside from Cochran’s soothing, southern drawl, the growth is fast-paced. “We expanded out of our current space on the day we moved in.” Vintage Porch Swings now offers seven models, as well as personalized custom designs, which ship efficiently in flat packages to porches across the country. The bed swings arrive with easy-to-follow instructions, ready for assembly and installation. The bed swings can also be installed indoors.

Vintage Porch Swings has appeared in Southern Living, Coastal Living, Charleston Style and Design, on television on HGTV and the DIY Network. Stay tuned for Vintage Porch Swing’s new Indoor Collection and see the blog for new designs and finishes. (vpswings.tumblr.com).
