Dance team plans fundraisers

A group of local dancers including Hanna Cooke of Hanahan, and Alejandra Lazo, Leslie Lemus, Jamie McFarland and Kiley Thompson of Goose Creek, have qualified to represent the U.S. at the World Show Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany, in November.

The dancers train at Berkeley County/West Ashley School of Performing Arts, under the direction of Darlene Schrader.

Fundraisers for the upcoming trip include:

• Halloween Haunted House hosted by SCMOD; 7-11 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 105 Laurel Avenue in Goose Creek; $5 in advance and $10 at the door.

• Spaghetti Dinner prepared by Olive Garden and Chick-fil-A of Summerville, 4:30 -7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at 105 Laurel Avenue; $10 per plate.

• Meet and Greet with Mayor Heitzler and Team USA Dancers at BC School of Performing Arts on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The mayor will give a signed copy of his new book “The Goose Creek Bridge” to anyone who gives a $20 donation or more to Team USA Dancers.
