Cane Bay High School’s chorus, the “Cobra Chorale,” was selected to perform at the South Carolina Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association Fall Conference.
The conference took place on Oct.11 at Coastal Carolina University.
They performed a 20-minute mini-concert in front of approximately 700 people including honor choir students and directors, and college directors. A panel of college professors and professional musicians selected the Cobra Chorale after hearing blind auditions from choruses across the state.
“This is a major honor for this program and it is the second major conference performance for this group in their six years of existence,” said CBHS director of choirs William J. Bennett.
The Cobra Chorale also performed at the General Session of the South Carolina Music Educators’ Association Spring In-Service Conference in Feb.2011.
“At the last conference the audience was moved to tears,” said CBHS principal Lee Westberry. “Mr. Bennett does an amazing job with these children, just another reason why we have the best Fine Arts in the county.”
