All OK after school bus fire

  • Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Some Berkeley High School students had some unexpected excitement on the way to school on Monday morning.

According to Berkeley County School District’s Susan Haire, a fire broke out on a county school bus around 7:50 a.m.

“It was a very minor fire that started somewhere in the rear of the school bus,” she said.

No one was injured in the fire, which occurred as the bus was heading to Berkeley High School on Cooper Store Road.

“Students were evacuated from the bus and the fire was quickly extinguished,” Haire said.

A replacement bus arrived on the scene and transported the students to school.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Haire.
