Hawks blank Bishop England

  • Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Hanahan heads into an open date fresh off another shutout of a natural rival.
The Hawks blanked Bishop England 35-0 on Friday to improve to 3-0 on the season. It was the 15th victory for Hanahan over the last 16 meetings in the series.
Running back Quan Wade topped the 100-yard mark and scored three touchdowns to power the Hawks on offense. Defensive back Marlon Washington and defensive lineman Dominique Lucas got the defense into the scoring act, returning fumbles for scores.
Patterson said offensive linemen Larry Smith and Jacob Billings have been the cornerstones up front.
“We’ve played very well at times,” said HHS coach Charlie Patterson, whose team blanked Timberland 41-0 a week earlier. “I still would like to see more consistency. The other night I think we got too sloppy on offense at times. Six times the ball was on the ground on snaps. We’ve got to get that fixed.”
The Hawks travel to Edisto on Sept. 20 before hosting Wade Hampton on Sept. 27.
