Save the date for Business Appreciation Week

The Town of Mount Pleasant will celebrate Business Appreciation Week from Sept. 9-13 by showcasing and recognizing the success of businesses within the community.

“We strive to be a business-friendly community and we would like to show appreciation to the individuals that do business here and contribute to the growth and economic health of our community,” said Mayor Swails. “The local economy of Mount Pleasant is stimulated by businesses that create jobs and employment opportunities allowing citizens to earn money, support their families, and thus, reinvest in the community.”

Where: Trident Technical College Mount Pleasant Campus, 1125 John Dilligard Lane, Room 111

Free Social Media Workshop: Are you friending on Facebook, tweeting on Twitter and connecting on LinkedIn? This workshop provides introductory information about the many social media tools and programs available today. Learn how social media can be used to foster personal and professional networks. Trident Technical College will also introduce how you can increase your marketing presence using various social media tools. Seating is limited. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m.

Where: Town Hall Municipal Complex, 100 Ann Edwards Lane

Town council will recognize the members of the MPBA Board Members: As a leader in the promotion and enhancement of the Mount Pleasant business community, MPBA provide members with information, advocacy, education and networking based on a foundation of integrity, social responsibility and excellence. Since 1992, MPBA has been bringing business leaders together throughout the community. MPBA membership is a mix of professions from various industries, including advertising and publishing, financial services, health care, retail, insurance, legal and service businesses.

Thursday, Sept. 12, 7:30-9 a.m.

Breakfast with the Mayor: Are you a Mount Pleasant business owner or entrepreneur interested in our local business climate? Breakfast with the Mayor is part of the Town of Mount Pleasant Annual Business Appreciation Week. Mayor Billy Swails will provide an update on the town business climate. Seating is limited. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2-7 p.m.

Where: Omar Shrine Temple, 176 Patriots Point Rd.

Mount Pleasant Business and Community Expo: Mount Pleasant Business and Community Expo provides local companies, professionals and organizations an opportunity to market their products and services. Attendees and vendors exchange ideas and contact information with one goal in mind: to get the word out about the businesses that drive the local economy. During the final two hours, attendees and vendors will enjoy food provided by local restaurants, and they’ll be able to wash it down with beer and wine. Live entertainment will be provided by Lyndsey Goodman-Moynihan’s jazz band, and local radio personality Kelly Golden will be broadcasting. Door prizes will be given away. Vendors will be able to continue to do business during the happy hour. Local law firm Clawson and Staubes is the title sponsor of the Mount Pleasant Business and Community Expo. Community sponsors include Tony Pope State Farm and the town of Mount Pleasant.
