The Palmetto Christian football team saw its record drop to 1-1 this season after a 20-14 loss at Williamsburg Academy this past Friday night.
Quarterback J.T. Waters threw for 237 yards on 11-of-19 passing (one touchdown, one interception) and ran for 49 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. Wide receiver Andrew Johnstone was the primary beneficiary of the passing game with 155 receiving yards on four receptions.
Ryan Roe led the rushing attack with 108 yards on eight carries. Williamsburg limited a prolific Eagles offense which scored 62 points in the regular season opener against SCISA 3A Porter-Gaud.
Palmetto Christian had a chance to pull off a late rally but on a 2nd down and four, the Eagles were whistled for a holding penalty, were sacked on the following play and threw an incompletion on fourth down with less than two minutes remaining.
Palmetto Christian fumbled four times during the game. Chase Shimakonis caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Last season, the Eagles defeated Williamsburg Academy at home, 32-21. Palmetto Christian will look to rebound Friday when it hosts Lincoln at Park West.
