South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley issued a statewide proclamation this week designating August 11 – 17 as “South Carolina Health Center Week.”
The proclamation recognizes community health centers that provide affordable, quality health care to millions of people across South Carolina and the nation. In addition to contributing to improved community health, these facilities help lower the cost of health care by reducing inappropriate emergency room and hospital utilization.
Each year over 324,000 South Carolinians receive patient-focused, coordinated health care services from community-based facilities across the state – including preventative and primary medical and dental care, case management and behavioral services, prenatal and postnatal care, and help with fitness and healthier eating.
