Former Stratford baseball standout Justin Greene was named the Most Valuable Player in the Double A Southern League all-star game on July 17.
He had an RBI triple to help power the South squad to a 6-0 victory over their North counterparts. He also stole a base in the game.
Greene has had a tremendous season to date after being traded from the Chicago White Sox organization to the Arizona Diamondbacks near the end of spring training. He led the Diamondbacks’ Class AA affiliate, the Mobile Bay Bears, with a .318 batting average the first half of the season.
He had two hits on Sunday night and now sports a .324 batting average with a team-high seven triples and 24 stolen bases. He is hitting .436 over his last 10 games.
Greene has been playing professional baseball since 2008 after a college career at Francis Marion.
