Goose Creek Post 166’s junior legion team got an impressive pitching performance from southpaw Eddie Hiott on Monday night in the League I tournament at Cane Bay High School.
Hiott whiffed 10 Summerville Gold batters and gave up just two hits in blanking Summerville 1-0.
If they won on Tuesday, Post 166’s juniors would have earned a spot in Thursday’s championship game. The winner of the double-elimination tournament advances to the state tournament.
Post 166’s lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Jamison Mobbs doubled to get into scoring position and was at third base when Tyler Knight put down a bunt to score the lone run.
Asher Smith had a pair of hits for Post 166’s juniors, while Mobbs, Hiott and Bryce Jonason all tacked on a hit each.
In the other game, Summerville Green defeated Moncks Corner 12-5.
