Goose Creek native and future University of South Carolina golfer Katelyn Dambaugh tied for third in a U.S. Women’s Amateur sectional qualifier on Monday, earning a spot in next month’s U.S. Women’s Amateur at the Country Club of Charleston.
The qualifier was held at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Cougar Point.
Dambaugh carded a 71, three strokes back of top qualifier Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Ga.
Kelli Murphy of Elgin was second with a 70 and Katie Petrino of Louisville, Ky tied with Dambaugh. Dambaugh was one of 10 golfers to advance out of the field of 102.
Seventeen other sectional qualifiers will be held over the next few weeks to complete the field that will compete in the Women’s Am from Aug. 5-11.
