Alzheimer's support groups continue
The local Alzheimer's Association has three caregiver support groups in the area held at different locations on the second Monday of each month.
Locations are Metro North Church (5:30-6:30 p.m.) at 109 Central Avenue in Goose Creek; Moncks Corner Medical Center (11 a.m – noon) on N. Live Oak Drive, and the Otranto Road library (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) in North Charleston.

First Steps meets July 11
The Berkeley County First Steps Partnership Board encourages the public to attend its meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 in the Berkeley County School District board room (229 East Main Street, Moncks Corner).

Fleet Reserve meets monthly
The Fleet Reserve Association Lowcountry Branch 269 holds its monthly General Assembly meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 99 Wisteria Road in Goose Creek.

Tea Ladies meet first Wednesday
The Tea Ladies of the St. James Goose Creek Parish meet on the first Wednesday of each month. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Coop Building at 2 Springhall Drive in Goose Creek.
The group's mission is to promote the history, culture and beautification of the St. James Goose Creek Parish. Contact Sharon at (843) 797-0301 for more information.
Tin Can Sailors dinner June 29
The Tin Can Sailors of Goose Creek are sponsoring a Barbecue Pork or Rib Dinner on Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at American Legion Post 166.
The menu consists of barbecue pork, slaw, hash and rice for $7, and rib dinners for $15, eat in or take out. Pork, hash and slaw only will also be available at $6 a pound for barbecue, $2.50 for a half-pint of hash, and $1.25 for 8 ounces of slaw.

GOP Breakfast Aug. 3
The next Berkeley Republican Party Breakfast will take place on Aug. 3; there will not be a Breakfast for the month of July. 
Lions meet July 8
The Goose Creek Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. on July 8 at the First Baptist Church (141 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek). Lions from other clubs are always welcome to attend, as are community members.
During the meeting the members will discuss the duties of the new officers and board members for 2013-2014. Committee assignments will be set up. Free lunch served twice weekly
Free lunch is served every Wednesday and Friday to all comers from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Goose Creek United Methodist Church fellowship hall.  
The menu of the Lord's Ladle Cafe includes homemade soups, sandwiches, and desserts. On Wednesdays, free clothing is also available.

VFW Steak Night continues
VFW Post 10256/Ladies Auxiliary at 104 Stephanie Drive in Goose Creek holds Steak Night on the fourth Saturday of each month from 6-8 p.m.
Dinner includes one rib-eye steak or chicken with baked potato, salad and a vegetable, and Texas toast. Cost is $10 eat-in, and $11 carryout. Guests are welcome.

BCSO summer camp July 15-19
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office will host its annual BCSO Summer Deputy Camp for students 8 to 12 years old this summer.
Camp dates are July 15 through July 19. Participation is limited to the first 50 students who return a completed parental consent and registration form along with a check or money order for $75 made payable to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Crime Prevention Unit.

Parental transportation is required to the Berkeley County Emergency Services Training Center (474 Reid Hill Road, just behind the Walmart in Moncks Corner) for student drop-off and pick-up. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. each morning of the camp and pick-up time is at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the camp.
Hanahan Rec announces summer programs
The Hanahan Recreation Department is forming a Hanahan LEGO Club.
Club meetings will be held every second and fourth Monday of each month beginning on July 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. LEGO Camp will be held for children ages 7-12.
Pizza and snacks will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
The Hanahan Recreation Department will host a course in digital photography in July. This course will focus on developing the skills necessary to identify and produce the elements of a good photograph and on acquiring a thorough knowledge of appropriate photographic equipment.
Learn how to take better family photos, great sports and action shots of your children or grandchildren and gorgeous landscapes as well as fantastic photos in low light. Classes will be held July 16, 18, 23 and 26. Pre-registration is required.
Registration for youth soccer, football, softball and baseball are currently being accepted. These programs will begin in the fall. Pre-registration is required.
