County council postpones passing budget

  • Thursday, June 27, 2013

Berkeley County Council put its budget for the coming fiscal year on hold until a later meeting.
Following council’s regular meeting Monday night in Moncks Corner, Berkeley County Supervisor Dan Davis said council approved a continuing resolution.
This allows the county to operate on the same budget as last year until the new budget is approved.
“You keep everything exactly as it is,” Davis said.
The chair of the finance committee has to approve the budget before council can approve it, Davis said.
The county budget was initially listed on the finance and council agendas but Finance Committee Chair Tim Callanan removed it from the agenda, according to the agenda.
Callanan and Councilmember Dennis Fish were not present.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of both the finance committee and full council is July 22.
