Jerry Beckley

Jerry Beckley announced last week that he will run for Berkeley County Supervisor in 2014 as a Republican.
Beckley is an Assistant Vice President at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union and has 13 years experience in state and local government.
"As a long time conservative, my first priority is to gain the trust of Berkeley County residents by making government accountable and convenient,” Beckley said in a release. “We must be good stewards of tax dollars by cutting waste and duplication. We need to seek out businesses that want to grow in Berkeley County alongside the residents. Most importantly, we have to break the grip of the politicians that believe public service is a permanent position."
Beckley pledged that if elected he would only run for two terms and would support a county referendum to make the Supervisor's position a two-term office. He also stated that county personnel that sit in leadership positions would be required to live in Berkeley County.
"Of the top wage earners in the county, some do not live in Berkeley County and that is wrong," he said. "If Berkeley County is good enough to pick up a paycheck, then it should be good enough to live, play, shop, and have their children go to school here."
Mr. Beckley holds an undergraduate degree from Murray State University and a Masters from Clemson. He has been married for 18 years and has one child. His campaign website is www.beckleyforberkeley.org.
Beckley and Moncks Corner Mayor Bill Peagler are the two announced Republicans in the race; Supervisor Dan Davis has not yet announced a re-election bid.
