HPD announces website improvements

Photo Provided - The Hanahan Police announced two new features under its site’s “Community” tab.

The Hanahan Police Department recently added two features to its website so residents can utilize its services in an easier way.
The HPD announced the additions last week.
First, under the “Community” tab at hanahanpolice.com is a section for property registration. This section allows residents to submit up to five photos and all the relevant description information for each of their bicycles and trailers.
While the HPD has always had a bicycle registration, prior to now, the service required the citizen to physically bring their bicycles to the police station so it could be documented and stickered. The new way lets citizens submit this information from the comfort of their home.
Once submitted and validated, the information is imported to HPD records for reference should something ever happen where the information is needed.  
In South Carolina, trailers are not required to have license plates so people often do not have the trailer information or photos if they get stolen. By using this new feature, the HPD will be able to readily identify a trailer if it is located and not in the possession of the lawful owner.
The second feature recently added was the House Check, also located under the “Community” tab.
This allows a citizen to submit their vacation check request without having to leave their home.  Once these submissions are validated, the HPD will physically check their homes on a daily, if not more often, basis. Before this tab, residents had to drive to the station in order to request this service.
