Crime in the Creek

  • Thursday, May 30, 2013

The following incidents were obtained from Goose Creek Police Department and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• A deputy responded to Julius Mitchell Road on May 21 when a victim told him the doorknob of his shed was removed. Two 32-inch televisions, valued at $500, were removed from the shed along with a cast-iron, pot-belly stove valued at $200.
• On May 18 a Ladson man reported a suspicious fire in the bedroom of his Gailmore Drive residence.  He said this is the second suspicious fire in his residence in the last two months. The fire started late at night, and the man was able to exit the residence but suffered minor burns to his face. The fire chief deemed the fire suspicious in nature.
• On May 18 an employee of an assisted living facility reported a backpack leaf blower, valued at $300, was stolen. Officers responded to Marilyn Street where the complainant advised he believed a number of items had been stolen including the leaf blower, a lawn mower and extension cord.
The complainant had video of a subject stealing the lawn mower just after midnight on that date. A subject is seen driving a bicycle through the parking lot to where the lawn mower was stored on the porch. He is seen taking the lawn mower and then returning to retrieve the bicycle. The lawn mower was found wedged between two bushes on the facility property. The extension cord was also found but the leaf blower was not.
• On May 20 an Adeline Drive woman received a call from her neighbor stating her ex-boyfriend entered her residence through the rear door. The neighbor knew the suspect was not supposed to be there and hence called the victim. He was seen leaving with a bottle of bleach and pillows. A short time later she received a call from her ex-boyfriend saying he was at her residence. The victim told him to leave because he had no reason to be there.
When she returned home from work the victim found bleach had been poured all over her clothing that was hanging in the closet and lying on the bed in her bedroom. Four pillows were missing from her bedroom and half a gallon of bleach was missing from the laundry room.
