The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation has presented an $88,000 check to the Charleston Southern University School of Nursing.
“The grant was provided to support the School of Nursing’s expansion by funding the pediatric simulator,” said Harvey Galloway, executive director of the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation.
Since the foundation was established in 2003, it has allocated more than $41 million in South Carolina to address issues such as childhood health, community health, mental health, obesity, diabetes, nursing and health research, and the increasing need for free medical clinics.
“The generous donation of a pediatric simulator has strengthened the learning opportunities for our students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. We are thankful that we can offer hands-on simulated pediatric experiences for our students,” said Tara Hulsey, dean of College of Nursing and Allied Health at Charleston Southern University. “With the addition of allied health programs, there is new opportunity for shared resources and interdisciplinary learning opportunities in the area of simulation.”
