Pringle headed for Converse College

Sahara Pringle became the second Goose Creek senior basketball player to sign a national letter of intent.
Pringle, a guard for the Lady Gators, is headed for Converse College in the upstate. Earlier, Ashley Fields signed a letter of intent with High Point.
“Sahara is a person you can always count on,” GCHS girls basketball coach Tim Baldwin said. “She’s a person that’s going to work hard. I think her best basketball is ahead of her... You don’t have to worry about her academically or doing things that aren’t positive. You can win with those types of kids anywhere.”
Pringle’s top asset is her set shot from outside. She caught the eye of Converse coach Kaye Waldrep over Christmas break, Baldwin said.
She hit nine 3-pointers over a three-game stretch and helped lead the way in wins over Scott County, Ky. and North Myrtle Beach.  Her season-high 12 points were key in the 59-57 win over Scott County on Dec. 21.
“We got to talking (with coach Waldrep) during the Christmas tournament over at Bishop England,” Baldwin said. “Sahara had a really big day for us. That’s whether the interest started.”
Pringle finished with 4.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and .7 steals per game.
The Lady Gators ended up with a 20-5 record and made the second round of the playoffs.
Baldwin said a third senior, guard Jalvin Jones, will likely sign a letter of intent with a small college in coming weeks.
