Boeing to add 2,000 jobs

Boeing South Carolina has announced it will add another 2,000 jobs to its North Charleston facility near the Charleston International Airport.
“We appreciate the strong support Boeing has received in South Carolina since we began expanding our presence and investments here just a few years ago,” Boeing spokesperson Candy Eslinger said. “The South Carolina business environment is one of the things that attracted us here originally.
“We are proud of our partnership with the state and the mutual benefits we have achieved working together for the people of South Carolina, the customers who fly our airplanes, and for Boeing.”
Boeing has invested more than $1 billion in land, facilities, infrastructure and tooling in South Carolina since 2009. Today the company has more than 6,000 employees working at the Boeing sites in the state.
Boeing S.C. met initial obligations under the economic incentive agreements made with the state in 2010 four years early, according to Eslinger.
With unprecedented demand for commercial airplanes – including a forecast of another 34,000 airplanes required over the next 20 years – Boeing is positioned for significant and sustained growth in the years ahead, and we have been investing in our people, products and facilities to deliver that growth and to better serve customers, according to Eslinger.
“To qualify for the economic development incentives being proposed this week, we are committing to create 2,000 new jobs and invest in excess of an additional $1 billion in South Carolina over the next eight years as part of our overall plan to capture market growth and deliver on our commitments to customers and other stakeholders,” Eslinger said. “We are excited about our future and the investments we are making in South Carolina to ensure our operations here are successful for generations to come.”
