The Cypress Gardens Cultural Dance Festival is returning for a third consecutive year on Saturday, April 20 from 12 Noon to 4 p.m.
The event will feature a vast array of authentic dances from around the world. The performers exhibit distinction and grace as they represent a number of countries, including Egypt, Spain, Philippines, Cuba, Argentina, Tahiti, India, and the United States.
This popular festival has gained an impressive following, with dances so authentic, audience members feel they are being transported to the countries which originated these beautiful performances.
“The Lowcountry is known for its rich history and diverse cultural influences,” Cypress Gardens Manager Heather Graham said. “We are excited to welcome and showcase all of the beautiful, awe-inspiring performers.
“They rehearse and work hard year-round to perfect their performances and exemplify the true essence of each country represented.”
This year features a bit of a twist. Audience members are invited to wear their favorite traditional outfit to help enhance the cultural atmosphere.
Take a stroll through the international craft bazaar and browse displays of exotic and unique crafts. A silent auction, raffle and door prizes will add to the excitement.
Performances will take place on the main stage in front of Cypress Gardens’ magnificent blackwater swamp.
Admission includes access to all Cypress Gardens park favorites, including the swamp boat ride, hiking trails, butterfly house, Heritage Room exhibit, reptile house and aquarium. In the event of rain, festivities will be moved to the Dean Hall Building.
