Council passes sanitation ordinance

The regularly scheduled March 12 Goose Creek City Council meeting marked the 1,000th time council has met for a regular meeting since Goose Creek became a city in 1961.
Council unanimously approved the first reading of a sanitation ordinance that prevents garbage and other sanitation to be picked up between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
“We want to re-ordain the noise ordinance that limits morning dumpster pickup,” Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler said.
City Administrator Dennis Harmon said trash pickup is usually done by 3:30 p.m. and usually starts at about 7 a.m.
In other business:

  • • Council honored its employees of the year from each department.
  • Council approved an Information Technology Department purchase for $27,312. The purchase will remove 35 desktop printers and replace them with 11 area printers.
  • Council approved a Recreation Department request to resurface the tennis courts at Crowfield Golf Club for $25,400.
