Crime in the Creek

The following incidents were obtained from Goose Creek Police Department and Berkeley County Sheriff's Office reports:
• On March 5 it was reported that about 400 feet of shielded copper wire in different gauges were stolen from a construction site of Old Mount Holly Road. The copper is valued at $1,500. The copper was evidently stolen sometime the night before the incident was reported.
• At some point between Feb. 18 and March 5 an outside air condenser unit was torn apart and its copper parts were removed from a Jean Wells Drive address. The victim said the estimated damage is $4,000.
• A Mt. Pleasant woman reported that while parked at a College Park Road tavern on March 5, her car was broken into and her iPhone 4 and checkbook were stolen between 8 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The phone is valued at $500 on the incident report. The checkbook was listed as having a value of $1. The vehicle's passenger window was shattered.
• A 13-year-old boy was caught with a bag of what appeared to be marijuana on a recent morning at Westview Middle School. A teacher noticed the student was attempting to conceal something in his hand, and when the teacher asked for the student to show her the object he refused.
A school resource officer was called in and the hidden object turned out to be a small plastic baggie that contained a green leafy substance. The SRO told the student he was under arrest for simple possession of marijuana. The SRO contacted the student's parents.
• On the morning of March 3 a Virginia Street resident called police after they said they witnessed a suspect shatter the front window of their residence. The victim said at 6:20 a.m. he and another witness saw the suspect, whom they identified by name, throw a rock three times at the window until it shattered. The victim told police the suspect then drove a moped through the yard leaving marks.
The window was valued at $700.
