TTC to host historian, scholar
Trident Technical College’s Department of History, Humanities and Political Science is inviting the public to an evening with historian and scholar Eric Foner on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. The event will be held at TTC’s Main Campus in North Charleston in Building 410, rooms 212-216, and is free to the public.
One of the country’s most prominent historians, Foner is the DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University, where he has worked since 1982 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1963 and a doctorate in 1969.
His publications have concentrated on the intersections of intellectual, political and social history, and the history of American race relations. His most recent book, “The Fiery Trail: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery,” will serve as the topic for Thursday’s event.
