William D. Nelson Jr.

William Daniel Nelson Jr. of Goose Creek passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 due to cancer. He was 59.
Services were held Jan. 19 at J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel. Interment with military honors was held at Beaufort National Cemetery on Jan. 21.  
Mr. Nelson was a dedicated, fun-loving guy who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, being on the boat, and watching his two favorite teams, the USC Gamecocks and Washington Redskins play football.
Mr. Nelson spent time in the Air Force and then worked at Short Stay, a military recreational facility. He loved his work and enjoyed the people he worked with up until the day he was forced to retire due to illness.  
He is survived by his wife, Rozella Nelson; daughters Nikki Dee Nelson-Gibbs and Crystal Lee Turko; grandsons Gavin Turko and Cameron Gibbs; his mother, Katherine Nelson; and three sisters, Kaye Nelson Walski, Kathy Bertolini and Jackie Hinkle.  
We may have lost a wonderful man but we have gained a beautiful angel! We are all at peace because his long journey of suffering is now over and he has been set free.   
In lieu of flowers family ask that donations in Mr. Nelson’s name be sent to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406; or to Doc Williams SPCA, 109 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445, about which he was passionate.
