Motorcyclist killed in county accident

A Charleston man was killed Wednesday in an early evening motorcycle accident in Berkeley County.
According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, 62-year-old Allen James of Charleston was thrown from his motorcycle, and run over by a sedan, after trying to avoid a collision on Highway 17A near Highway 176 in Goose Creek.
Mr. James was traveling with a group of other motorcycle riders at the time of the accident.
According to Salisbury, Mr. James was transported to Trident Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death will be ruled accidental with the cause as head and body trauma. He was not wearing a helmet, Salisbury said.
The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Goose Creek Police Department.
