Baldwin records 250th career victory

  • Monday, January 14, 2013

Goose Creek girls basketball coach Tim Baldwin thanks members of his team after they gave him his 250th career victory.

When Tim Baldwin took over the Goose Creek High School girls basketball program over a decade ago, the big-picture goal was sustainable success.
The Lady Gators have been able to do that, and gave Baldwin his 250th career victory on Monday night, blasting Berkeley 66-22 at GCHS.
“This is not a ‘me’ achievement,” said Baldwin, in his 12th season in charge. “This is a ‘we’ achievement. It doesn’t matter how good a coach is, you’ve got to have the players that want to get better and be the best they can be.
“You’re not going to hit milestones without good players and assistant coaches.”
Baldwin was presented a signed basketball by his players after the win over Berkeley. The Lady Gators improved to 4-0.
Center Semoine Frasier and guard Alex Ludwig had 14 and 11 points respectively to lead the way. Guard Ashley Fields contributed nine points and point guard Jalvin Jones chipped in eight points.
Baldwin’s team hosts Fort Dorchester on Wednesday night and travels to Hanahan on Friday.
In his tenure, Baldwin’s teams have won seven region titles and a state championship. They’ve been to the Lower State finals four years in a row.
This season, it’s been easy for the Lady Gators. They opened up with a 56-13 win over Timberland on Dec. 4 then followed with victories over Berkeley (71-15) and Hanahan (60-34).
