Lindsey Marino, an assistant principal at Westview Primary School, has been named the 2013 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Marino was selected from a field of elementary school administrator candidates by a veteran panel of judges. The other finalist for the award was Cleve (Shawn) Suber from Lake Carolina Elementary School in Columbia’s Richland District Two.
“We are very pleased that Lindsey Marino has been named as the SCASA Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year,” said Molly Spearman, executive director of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. “She is an exceptional ambassador for education in our state.”
Westview Primary School Principal Lucretia Carter praised Marino.
“Dr. Marino is not afraid of hard work and doesn’t ask of others what she isn’t willing to do herself,” Carter said. “She understands that a true leader models what is to be expected.”
Superintendent of Berkeley County School Superintendent Rodney Thompson said that Marino “shows her passion for the students at Westview Primary every day in every aspect of her job. She represents everything a South Carolina educator should be.”
The award was presented on Monday in a surprise announcement at Westview Primary School.
