  • Monday, January 14, 2013

A Goose Creek man was found shot dead in a car at the 200 block of Lindy Creek Road early Thursday. Goose Creek Police and EMS were called to the scene of a single-car accident in which a vehicle was reported to be partially in the ditch roadside in front of a vacant residence at about 1 a.m., according to authorities. They found Darrell R. Allen, 23, of Goose Creek, in the car, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.  Officers approached the black 2013 Nissan Altima and found a black male identified as Allen deceased within the vehicle, according to GCPD. The investigation revealed Allen had injuries believed to be the result of multiple gunshots. The coroner’s office took custody of Allen’s body (autopsy pending) and the vehicle was impounded for evidence collection and processing, according to GCPD. At approximately 7:15 a.m., a black male subject identified as David Chavis, 43, arrived in the GCPD lobby suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right arm. Chavis is believed to have possibly been in or around the subject vehicle at the time of the shooting; however, specifics of his involvement have not yet been determined, according to GCPD. Chavis has since been taken into custody for a firearms violation and service of warrants. Bond hearing arrangements are pending. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Goose Creek Police are investigating the death as a homicide. Check back with this website for updates.
