The most expensive election in the history of America is finally over. Americans went to the polls and spoke loudly and clearly.
Some people were overjoyed, some people were disappointed. But however we might have taken or responded to the results, there is no ambiguity concerning the will of the people.†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† †
America reminded the politicians that they select the President. For almost two years the leadership of the Republican Party expressed the fact that removing President Obama from office and making him a one-term President was their number one goal. And they repeated it again and again so even the deaf could hear.
There were special interests groups and even individuals who helped by threatening workers that if the President was re-elected they would lose their jobs. Americans went to the polls and said to all these people, we decide who will govern us as president. So the threats didnít work, and the Republican Partyís number one agenda fell embarrassingly flat on its face.††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† †
The Republican leaders stated too often that they will not work with this President. The American people said otherwise; they will have to work with this President.
And give a little credit to the GOP House leader; he did say publicly a day after the election that he would work with the President.
This group of leaders had become more partisan than ever before, clearly putting politics and prejudice ahead of the business of the American people. Americans are smarter than the politicians give them credit for, even though some people were berating the voters because they didnít like the results. Ordinary Americans that make up most of the population donít get to choose who they will and will not work with. They have a job and they do their very best to get the job done and learn to get along with their fellow employees.† Why should it be different with these self-important, ego inflated politicians?
As a matter of fact given their high office they ought to demonstrate a greater sense of cooperation and unity in order to get the work of the American people done. America has spoken. We hope the politicians heard.†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† †
Now that the election is over, letís pray for the President and the Congress that they might work together for the good of the American people. Can any good come of this crop of politicians? They will let us know over the next few years and then we will go back to the polls and tell them what we think of them.
Letís not forget what the bible says in Daniel5:21b ďÖthe most High God rules in the kingdom of men ... He appointeth over it whomsoever He will.Ē
