Barrow graduates

Air Force Airman Mckeever S. Barrow graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, TX.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Barrow is the son of Elcorese Thomas of Goose Creek, and grandson of Virginia Brown of Charleston. He is a 2011 graduate of Goose Creek High School.

Brett enlists

Timothy G. Brett, son of Nicky and Tim Brett of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.
Brett will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
Brett is a 2010 graduate of Vacaville Christian High School of Vacaville, Calif.

Kotko graduates

Air Force Airman Meghan A. Kotko graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, TX.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Kotko is the daughter of Stephanie Kotko of Hanahan. She is a 2008 graduate of Truckee High School in California.

Marsh joins Navy

Lawrence G. Marsh, son of Susan C. and Lawrence A. Marsh of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.
Marsh will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill. Marsh is a 2010 graduate of Stratford High School.

McClellen enlists

Travis E. McClellen, son of Pamela V. and Roger G. McClellen of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.

Andrew E. Meadows, son of Susan E. and Donald C. Meadows of Hanahan, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.
Meadows will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
Meadows is a 2011 graduate of Hanahan High School.

Smith completes basic

Army Pfc. Andre D. Smith has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Smith is the son of Yvonne Newton of Goose Creek, and grandson of Rufus Peterson of Goose Creek. He is a 2011 graduate of Highland Park High School in Illinois.

Soliman becomes Marine

Marine Corps Pvt. Daniel F. Soliman, son of Milagros Aileen F. and Daniel A. Soliman of Goose Creek, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Parris Island.
For 13 weeks, Soliman stayed committed during some of the world's most demanding entry-level military training in order to be transformed from civilian to Marine instilled with pride, discipline and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Training subjects included close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies.
Soliman is a 2011 graduate of Stratford High School.
