The Pinewood Prep boys opened region play Jan. 4 with a 61-55 home win against Hilton Head Prep.
The Panthers had four players in double figures with Reid Radebaugh leading the way with 15 points, Ryan Felder with 12, Corbin Landers with 11 and Ahmad Ray with 10. Austin McCray and Ryan Felder both pulled down nine rebounds for the Panthers.
Pinewood led 48-44 going into the fourth quarter in a tough defensive game. Radebaugh stepped up with six big points in the quarter and Jimmy Thomas hit a big three pointer with about two minutes to go that gave the Panthers a working margin. Thomas and McCray both finished with five assists.
On Tuesday, Pinewood suffered a tough road loss to Hilton Head Christian 50-49.
The Eagles’ Caleb Lewis hit a 35-foot three pointer off the glass with one second left to send the game into overtime. The Panthers were only able to make one free throw in the four-minute overtime and came up short. Felder paced Pinewood with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Radebaugh added 15 points.
Pinewood continues region play with a road game against Northwood Academy Friday.
