The Goose Creek Masonic Lodge welcomed Most Worshipful David J. DeChant Sr., the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in South Carolina, who made an official visit to Goose Creek on July 1.
In his official party were several Grand Lodge officers from South Carolina including RWB C R Rolader, District Deputy Grand Master of the Second Masonic District; RWB Keith Stika, District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District; WB Billy Graham, Grand Marshal, and a special guest to the Lowcountry, RWB James Jacks, Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master of Masons in Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Along with RWB Jacks was RWB Wayne Price, Past District Deputy Master from Virginia.
It was a special night for the members of Goose Creek, for it was the first time in the history of the Lodge that a foreign Grand Master visited. RWB Jacks told the Lodge that the hospitality he has received during his visit is remarkable.
He gave a brief on Masonry in Scotland as compared to Masonry in the United States.
WB Jimmy Dyches, Worshipful Master of Goose Creek 401, said that he was honored to have MW DeChant and RWB Jacks visiting, and that Goose Creek will never forget this special night.
He then presented MW DeChant with a shadow box containing mementos from their 50th anniversary, which they celebrated on June 1. He also presented RWB Jacks with several mementos from their 50th anniversary with the hope that RWB Jacks will always remember his visit to Goose Creek.
“Here we sit in this lodge, Brothers from many lodges in South Carolina, Virginia, and even Scotland, and harmony exists,” DeChant said. “We meet as Brothers, and a good time was had by all”.
