Unique creations are on tap at the upcoming workshops.
Two workshops, both lasting two days, will focus on making garden ornaments using Portland cement. The workshops will be held at Cypress Gardens on Aug. 25 and 26.
A Hypertufa Workshop from 9 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Aug. 25, will see Arlene Dean teach attendees how to make molds and mix tufa cement. Students will make a stepping-stone and a flower pot that will end up looking like an old stone pot.
On Sunday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. –3 p.m., attendees will learn how to unmold projects and learn concrete carving and finishing techniques.
The cost is $35, and the sessions are limited to 15 students.

On Saturday afternoon, Aug. 25, from 1–3 p.m., Arlene Dean will teach a Sand-Cast Leaf Workshop using real leaves as molds.
On Sunday from 1–3 p.m., attendees will unmold their leaves and learn to trim and paint them. The cost of this workshop is $30; call 553-0515 to sign up.
Participants can take part in both workshops for $60.
