Multiple media outlets reported Cheri Crawford and her husband James Crawford pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of unlawful neglect toward a child.
Authorities say the Chesterfield County couple had been raising their grandsons, ages 8, 11 and 12, for several years after their father was slain and mother could not be found.
Prosecutors say the couple gave no explanation why they recently pulled the boys out of school and forced them to work in the yard.
Investigators say two of the boys has to sleep in a shed or a tent.
