SC deputies seize $64,000 in gambling raid
Published Thursday, January 21, 2010 8:18 AM
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies have seized nearly $64,000 after raiding what they say was a gambling business in northwestern South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that 27 people were ticketed in the raid last week.

Deputies say they seized $41,000 Ronald David Pitts of Anderson, identified as the owner of the business.

Deputies say they got a tip about the games at a house in Greenville on Jan. 14. Deputy Matthew Armstrong says the operation was not considered a 'friendly game' of poker because investigators were told there would be a high buy-in to get into the game.

Deputies say they found poker chips, gambling tables and five video gaming machines.

Those ticketed in the case are to appear in court Feb. 17.

So, was it $64,000 or $41,000? Those numbers are not even close.
