Man gets life in prison for killing three in SC
Published Wednesday, March 10, 2010 8:20 AM
ST. GEORGE, S.C. (AP) — A man has been convicted of killing three people at a South Carolina apartment complex.

Multiple media outlets reported that Circuit Judge Markley Dennis on Tuesday convicted Anthony Sanders of murder in the deaths in North Charleston in July, 2007. Dennis sentenced Sanders to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sanders had agreed to skip a jury trial and appeals in exchange for prosecutors' decision to drop a possible death sentence. Prosecutor Blair Jennings says the victims' family wanted to avoid a long trial and appeals.

Forty-four-year-old Diane Grant, her 20-year-old son Jatavios DeVore and her 14-year-old daughter, DeAnna DeVore were killed.

Sanders' motive and his relationship to the victims remains unclear. He did not testify during his brief trial.
