Inmate missing from SC minimum security center
Published Tuesday, March 02, 2010 8:38 AM
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina prison officials say an inmate has walked away from a minimum-security facility in Aiken.

The Corrections Department said 29-year-old Brandon McDonald was confirmed missing from the Lower Savannah Pre-Release Center about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

McDonald had begun serving a four-year sentence for assault and battery in Greenwood County in September.

Prison spokesman Josh Gelinas says McDonald will be charged with escape when he is caught. That carries a sentence of between one year and 15 years.
