Stratford teams place third in region swim meet

Both Stratford swim teams placed third in the Region 7-AAAA swim meet last weekend at Park West.
Senior B.J. Hornikel was first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle to lead the Knights. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in both events heading into the Class AAAA state championships Oct. 10 at the University of South Carolina.
Daniel Shelley had a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley and was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly.  He qualified for state in both the 200 IM and 50 freestyle.
Weston Lindamood was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in the region meet.
Hornikel, Shelley, Lindamood and Joe Bender make up the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle teams that have earned a spot in the state meet.
Hope Stevens was first in the 50 freestyle for the Lady Knights and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle. She earned automatic state qualifying times in both events.
Danielle Wells placed fourth in the region meet in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
